“But I’m too scared to solo travel”

A few tips for you to feel more confident with solo travel…

Figure out surroundings

  • As soon as I arrive to my accommodations, I typically like to go on a short walk around the area to figure out where I am and what’s around me

Plan for transport from airport

  • This is typically when you are the most tired and potentially overwhelmed, so having a plan for your initial transportation can be a huge help

Acknowledge that it can be hard

  • It’s ok if you feel awkward or nervous or overwhelmed when solo traveling…doing things alone can be intimidating! I find that simply acknowledging that it might be difficult can help. “I know I might feel awkward sitting alone at dinner but I will find the joy in it.”

Less plans

  • Leave room for spontaneity! The beauty of solo traveling is being able to go and do as you please, so don’t lock yourself in to too many commitments in advance.

Solo time (yes, you might need to plan this out)

  • Make time for things that make you feel refreshed!

Tips for meeting people…

  • Ask a question

  • Pay a compliment

  • Offer to take a photo

Happy traveling!
