Permission for you to…

This is your permission to…

  • Create free space in your travel schedule to be available for whatever the world has to offer you (this might include a new restaurant, a new friendship, etc). Don’t make your schedule jam packed. Trust me.

  • Take it slow / allow yourself to have down time when you’re traveling from time to time. You might be tempted to think, “I have to do every single thing since I came all this way” but sometimes the BEST thing you can do is rest for a second (esp. if you are feeling overly tired or overwhelmed).

  • Spend money on the things and experiences you REALLY want, and not spend money on the things you really don’t care about.

  • Go without phone service / wifi for an entire day and just let yourself be present.

  • Strike up the conversation with the person sitting next to you on the train or at the bar or in the airport. You never know what kind of friendships or opportunities or relationships will come from it.

  • Try to learn something meaningful about the culture you are encountering. Try the foods, ask the questions, learn a few phrases. It’ll expand your world view and remind you that we are all just human!

Happy traveling!
