Travel Moments Gone Wrong

Sometimes you will…

  • miss your flight

  • have to pay extra for something unexpected

  • have a car breakdown mid roadtrip

  • cry over laundry soap when you can’t understand the language (it’s true, this has happened to me)

But other times you will…

  • see something that deepens your perspective about the world

  • meet a stranger that reminds you of the goodness of humanity

  • find a local spot that gets added to your “hidden treasures” list

  • gain a new sense of confidence

Travel is a giant mixture of highs and lows and the sooner we learn to accept and appreciate that, the more enjoyable the entire experience will become.

And when things do go wrong?? Try to slow down and remember that you don’t have to be rushed. Then try one of these:

Go to a local cafe and order your favorite drink + pastry. Sit and observe the life happening around you. Enjoy the moment.

Take a nap (this seriously can do wonders for the overwhelmed + exhausted traveler).

Go on a walk. Get your endorphins up and take the time to observe the architecture, movement, and little moments on the streets.

If you aren’t able to do one of those (i.e. your car just broke down and you are waiting for a solution), take the principles of them: slow down, observe, and just be in the moment.

Happy traveling!
