International Checklist

Heading on an international adventure soon? We’ve created a checklist for you to go through to make sure that you are all ready.

  1. PASSPORT

    1. Check your passport to make sure that it will not expire within 6 months after your travel dates and that there are at least 2 full pages for stamps or visas.

    2. Scan your passport. Keep one copy printed out in your luggage + keep one on a Google Doc or other online storage.

  2. VISA

    1. Check your destination’s visa requirements. Some countries require visa applications prior to departure, while some allow applications to be filled out upon arrival.

    2. Check for the following:

      1. Requirement based on length of stay and passport origin

      2. When + how to acquire visa

      3. If cash is needed for visa application at airport

      4. Make sure your passport has enough room for a 1 page visa

  3. HEALTH DOCUMENTS + INSURANCE

    1. Check your destination’s health requirements. Some countries require specific vaccinations for entry and recommend specific medicine (i.e. Malaria prevention pills). Call your local hospital’s travel department for information.

    2. International Health Insurance is encouraged for anyone traveling overseas, as most U.S. based insurances won’t cover accidents. This can range from $40-100 USD per year.

  4. INTL DRIVER’S LICENSE

    1. If you are planning to drive or rent a car or moped in a different country, make sure to get an international driver’s license! You can get it at your local AAA for $15-30. The license will last for a full year. All you need to bring in is your current driver’s license + a passport sized photo (or you can have one taken there for an extra fee).

  5. MONEY

    1. Check the exchange rate between your currency and your destination’s currency. Most airports will charge extreme fees (giving you a worse exchange rate), so if you are planning to pay via cash, you may consider exchanging at a local bank or ATM.

    2. Call your banks to let them know of your travel so that there will be no issues with using your card abroad.

  6. INTL CHARGER

    1. Check your destination’s plug type + purchase an international charger + adaptor to be able to use your electronics. We recommend getting an “international adaptor” which can convert to multiple plug types.

We hope that this list helps you travel with more ease and intention!

Cheers!
